Sichuan HengShu Biotechnology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as Hengzhu Biotechnology) was established in 2003. It is a national high-tech enterprise and a national forestry key leading enterprise specializing in the production and sales of experimental animals, the research and development of common technologies for animal experiments and technical services.

In November 2018, HengShu Bio was commended as an outstanding private enterprise in Sichuan Province by Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and provincial government. In April 2019, HengShu Bio Academician (expert) Workstation was awarded by the Organization Department of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and other seven departments as Sichuan Academician (expert) Workstation. In December 2020, HengShu Bio Major Human disease Model Monkey Development and Application Laboratory was recognized as the Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province. In 2021, HengShu Bio was approved by Sichuan Forestry and Grassland Bureau to establish a long-term scientific research base for forests and grasses in Sichuan Province. In July 2021, HengShu Bio was approved by Sichuan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security to establish Sichuan Postdoctoral Innovation Practice base. In February 2023, HengShu Bio was commended as an excellent local private enterprise by Yibin Municipal Committee and Government of the Communist Party of China.

The main business of HengShu Bio is the production of experimental animals including macaques, cynomolgus monkeys, miniature pigs and other supporting technical services as well as the research and development of bioengineering products. The existing gene editing laboratory, microinjection laboratory, pharmacology and toxicology laboratory, embryo laboratory and other experimental sites that meet the standards of about 6000 square meters, has a professional technical personnel team and advanced detection and analysis equipment, can carry out experimental research on monkeys, dogs, miniature pigs, mice and other experimental animals. To provide services for pharmaceutical enterprises and scientific research institutions in innovative drug screening, drug pre-clinical pharmacology, pharmacodynamics and metabolism research, clinical trial sample analysis and other key areas.

At present, HengShu Bio has established a professional, standardized, diversified and industrialized research platform in the field of major human diseases, which integrates basic research, applied research and technical services, and has become an important cooperative research center and technological innovation output base in the field of preclinical research of new drug research and development in China.

Laboratory Animal Management and Use Committee (IACUC)

Sichuan Hengshu Biotechnology Co., Ltd. adheres to the "Guide for the Care." in four aspects: treating animals used in scientific research, testing and production, providing all environmental facilities and care related to the healthy life of animals, implementing relevant welfare for animals to obtain experimental data of scientific research value, and standardizing the management of animal welfare The various provisions of "and Use of Laboratory Animals", "Regulations on the Administration of Laboratory Animals", "Measures for the Administration of Laboratory Animal Licenses" and "Guiding Opinions on Treating Laboratory Animals Well" are implemented in accordance with the principles of animal ethics and welfare to establish the IACUC company.

The main responsibilities of the company IACUC:

IACUC is responsible for the review, supervision and assessment of animal breeding and use at the Experimental Animal Center. It is also in charge of formulating and approving relevant supervision and management regulations, systems and training plans for animal breeding and use, and guiding, training, assisting and supervising the production and experimental areas of the company's experimental animal center to implement daily management work in accordance with the regulations and systems.

The review process of IACUC:

The review process includes an initial review (review of the application form format) and a meeting evaluation (forming a review resolution and issuing the "Animal Welfare Ethics Review Form" signed by the committee members).

After the project application is accepted, in principle, the review committee should make a review resolution and issue the "Animal Welfare Ethics Review Form" within one week. For major or controversial projects, the review period may be appropriately extended.

3. Due to work requirements, with the consent of the chairperson, the form of communication review (including email or paper review) can be used instead of meeting review.

4. For major projects or controversial projects, the executive committee may request the chairperson to invite independent expert advisors to participate in the review.

5. If necessary, applicants may be invited to answer questions on the spot. The applicant may also request the recusal of committee members who are detrimental to the confidentiality of the project or the fairness of the review.

When there are significant differences of opinion among the committee members, a vote may be taken. A vote is considered passed if two-thirds or more of the committee members agree.
